california dumbs

I’m going to Los Angeles tomorrow for the first time. California for the first time. I’ve never been west of layover in Phoenix. I hear they have sunshine and traffic there. I’ve built up this city so much in my head I might possibly burst into tears when I get there. It’s a pure mystery to me. So while I live in a metropolitan city of my own and can handle myself in new situations, I find myself asking such dumb questions like:

Do you wear jackets?
Can I run on the street for exercise?
Do people wear sun hats?
Can I Google “beach” and find a beach?

Then I ask stubborn questions:
Why don’t you ride bikes?
Why don’t you walk outside?

This city’s commute doesn’t make much sense to me.

  1. Saw this on Google Plus this morning. http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2012/04/fake_la_subway_map.php

Only been there once, and didn’t spend much time in the city proper, but it was fun (and we totally saw Sean Penn at Ralph’s and Matthew Perry at the resort…but maybe that’s because we stayed in/very close to Malibu) – enjoy, hope you spot some famouses!

  2. Didn’t spot and famous mooses, but holy hell the sushi is great.
